What Are Soundproof Sandwich Panels Made Of?
Soundproof sandwich panels consist of three layers:
• The core is made of high-density rock wool (typically with a density of 80 or 120 kg/m³).
• Instead of a solid inner metal layer, perforated galvanized steel is used on one side.
• The other outer layers are standard galvanized steel sheets.
How Does a Soundproof Sandwich Panel Neutralize Noise?
This panel utilizes two natural properties:
• The high damping and vibration characteristics of galvanized steel
• The excellent sound absorption properties of rock wool
The mechanism is simple yet effective:
• Sound waves pass through the first layer (perforated galvanized steel) and enter the rock wool core.
• The rock wool absorbs and neutralizes much of the sound energy.
• Any remaining high-frequency sound that passes through the rock wool hits the second solid galvanized sheet, where it is reflected back into the rock wool, further dampening and neutralizing the sound.
Thus, the combination of a perforated steel layer, rock wool core, and solid steel layer effectively traps and eliminates sound.
